About Ashiatsu Massage

Here at Rooted Remedy Ashiatsu, fulfilling your massage wishes is our command. Whether you are wanting to integrate massage therapy into your athletic recovery plan, looking for help rehabilitating from a soft tissue injury, or wanting a place to simply relax and breathe in silence. We are here for you.

Ashiatsu is the combination of two Japanese words: Ashi translates into “foot” and Atsu “pressure”. Here at Rooted Remedy we focus on a specific type of Ashiatsu called FasciAshi. In this modality of massage the therapist uses their feet and the workings of gravity to deliver a slow and deliberate form of Myofascial Release massage. Many describe the feeling of our massage as a slow, broad, and DEEP massage, minus the point elbow feeling!

Though this massage can be practically as DEEP as one would like, it also does not need to be! We as therapists are trained to regulate our body weight to generate an ideal amount of pressure for each individuals specific needs.

If you have any specific inquiries as to whether Ashiatsu massage is a good choice for you, a free phone consultation is encouraged. We look forward to working with you!

How to Prepare

  • If it is your first appointment with us, give yourself time to find parking and our office. Please be sure to fill out the health intake and read the directions sent to you upon booking. Arrive 5-10 minutes early to guarantee your full session length.

  • Massage therapy can trigger your digestive system so you don’t want to eat anything too heavy. Eat fruits, veggies, granola, something light and healthy 1 1/2-2 hours beforehand to prevent nausea and light headedness during your session.

  • Bareefoot massage is deep and intense work. Keeping the muscles hydrated will help prevent soreness, help the lymphatic system, and help prevent nausea and light headedness.

  • This will help the muscles relax before your session

  • The type of massage therapy we specialize in is myofascial barefoot massage otherwise known as fasciashi. With myofascial massage, we use the least amount of lubricant possible in order to target the fascia. If you do happen to be wearing lotion, let your therapist know so that they can apply less oil.

  • Try to workout before your massage instead of after or even better, take a rest day! Barefoot massage is a lot on your body and your muscles need time to recover just as they would at the gym.
